The 10 Types of Content I Keep Coming Back To
This post may contain affiliate links. Please read the disclaimer

If you’ve ever wondered how some business owners always seem to have something to post, I don’t think it’s because they have more ideas.
I think it’s because they’ve identified a handful of content types that work and keep coming back to them.
That’s certainly been true for me.
Over the years, I’ve created content for blogs, emails, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, and my membership. While the topics have changed, I’ve noticed that I tend to reuse the same content categories over and over again.
Not because I’m out of ideas.
Because they work.
They help me teach, connect, organize my thoughts, and naturally talk about my offers without feeling like I’m constantly starting from scratch.
Before We Start: Download the Content Planner & Brand Playbook
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that content gets easier when you stop trying to remember everything and start creating systems for it.
That’s why I created the Content Planner & Brand Playbook.
It’s designed to help you map your content, organize your ideas, and create a simple content system that makes showing up consistently feel much more manageable.
Inside you’ll find tools to help you:
- Organize your content ideas
- Plan future content
- Clarify your messaging
- Create content faster
- Build a repeatable content workflow

1. Teaching Content
Whenever I’m stuck, this is usually where I start.
What’s a question I’ve answered multiple times lately? What’s something I wish more people understood? What’s a process that has made my life easier?
Examples:
- How to plan a month of content
- How to repurpose a blog post
- How to organize content ideas
- How to write a newsletter

2. Mistakes and Misconceptions
People love seeing a different perspective on something they thought they understood.
These posts are often built around common mistakes, myths, or assumptions.
Examples:
- Why posting every day isn’t necessary
- The mistake making content harder than it needs to be
- What most people get wrong about consistency
- Why more content isn’t always the answer

3. Personal Lessons
Some of my most relatable content comes from sharing something I’ve learned the hard way.
These posts tend to feel more conversational because they come from experience rather than instruction.
Examples:
- What I wish I knew sooner
- A mistake I made
- Something I’ve changed my mind about
- A lesson from my business journey
4. What I’m Noticing
This has become one of my favorite types of content.
Instead of teaching, I’m simply sharing observations.
Examples:
- What I’m noticing about content creators right now
- What I’m noticing about Pinterest traffic
- What I’m noticing about burnout
- What I’m noticing about online business trends

5. Frequently Asked Questions
If someone asks a question, there’s a good chance other people are wondering the same thing.
I keep a running list of questions from:
- Email replies
- DMs
- Blog comments
- Membership questions
- Social media conversations
Those questions often become future content.
6. Frameworks and Lists
If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ve probably noticed I come back to this category often.
I love taking a messy topic and organizing it into something simple.
Examples:
- 5 Lists Every Business Needs
- 10 Types of Content to Rotate
- 7 Ways to Repurpose a Blog Post
- The 4 Parts of a Content System

7. Workflow Content Content
This is probably the category that feels most aligned with my business today.
I genuinely enjoy helping people organize the content side of their business.
Examples:
- How I organize content ideas
- My monthly planning process
- The categories in my content library
- My content workflow
- How I store blog ideas

8. Success Stories and Examples
Sometimes people don’t need another tutorial.
They need to see what something looks like in real life.
Examples:
- Customer wins
- Client transformations
- Personal results
- Before and after examples
9. Behind the Scenes
People are often curious about what happens behind the finished content.
Examples:
- My planning process
- What I’m working on
- Tools I use
- How I batch content
- A look inside my business

10. Content About My Offers
One thing I’ve learned is that talking about your offers doesn’t always have to mean creating sales content.
Sometimes it looks like:
- Showing what’s included
- Answering questions
- Explaining why you created it
- Sharing how people use it
- Showing the problem it solves

Why I Keep Coming Back to These Content Types
When I look back at the content that has performed best for me over the years, it almost always falls into one of these categories.
Not because they’re trendy.
Not because they’re clever.
But because they help people understand something, organize something, solve something, or see a possibility they hadn’t considered before.
The interesting thing is that once you identify your own repeatable content categories, planning gets much easier.
You’re no longer asking:
“What should I post?”
You’re asking:
“Which type of content do I want to create today?”
And those are two very different questions.
