Instagram marketing is pretty straightforward – no matter what your niche is, you need to get as much engagement as possible. However, the biggest problem that new businesses face is attracting the initial interest.

One of the best methods to overcome this hurdle is by hiring an already established account to advertise your page. In other words, you need an influencer. 

However, one of the most common mistakes that new businesses make is not thinking too much and contacting the first page that comes up in the search. Instagram marketing, including influencers, is much more complicated. If you are starting out, you need to follow the tips below. This way, you will manage to avoid eventual losses.

Use Micro-Influencers

The world of influencer marketing on Instagram has so many different accounts that you could end up looking for the perfect one for days. However, if you narrow your search to accounts which have between 10 to 100 thousand followers, everything becomes much easier.

These so-called micro-influencers have another advantage. Most of them have a much higher engagement to follower ratio. And since your goal is to promote yourself to real people, then it becomes a no-brainer.

Ask yourself this – why pay 1000 dollars for an account with 1 million followers instead of paying 100 dollars for an account with 100 thousand followers if their engagement rate is the same?

A great way to see an increase in engagement rate is by running giveaways and special offers. It is one of the oldest techniques in the world.

If you can get an influencer to share your contest, you can expect to see an even higher number of people liking your post, spreading the whole thing even further.

Getting an influencer to put your link in his or her bio will likely cost you a lot of money, but if you find the perfect account, everything will definitely be worthwhile.

Since you cannot put links on Instagram by commenting, bio page is the only option. When an average user wants to find out more information, they visit this page. And if there is a link, it is highly likely that they will click on it.

Instagram Stories

The feature that has been around for a couple of years has really taken off. Stories have also become a big part of Facebook marketing, and you can connect your FB account with Instagram, increasing your reach.

Influencers come into play by adding tags and stickers on their stories. For instance, you can see plenty of makeup artists promoting themselves by having influencers showcase the products in a story mode.

Shoutouts

The most common technique of using influencers on Instagram is by simply asking them to give a shoutout. It is so popular mostly because it requires very little effort from both sides.

All you need to do is agree on the time of the post, and the person with the followers will give you a mention in the post. 

Shoutouts do not work that well if you are particularly interested in sell right there and now. They are used to increase the number of followers.

Invite Influencers to Your Event

If there is a company event coming up soon, you might want to consider inviting the influencer as a guest. It is a good way to expose yourself to a much larger audience because events tend to generate quite a lot of commotion in media.

A single influencer might not make the biggest impact, but a few of them can become a force to be reckoned with. 

Call-to-Action

Instead of asking for a simple shoutout or mention, ask them to include a strong call-to-action. If they can come up with it themselves, that’s great. And if that is not something that they are capable of doing due to lack of time then create it yourself, or hire a professional.

Detailed Review

While the attention span of an average person is decreasing, an in-depth review of a product in a post is bound to catch some attention, especially if it is not a usual type of content that an audience expects.

The review itself should be thorough and look legit as if the person reviewing the product has really been using it for a long time. Again, you will likely have to outsource the review since not a lot of Instagram influencers may not have the time or be able to write it on their own.

Track Your Progress

Make sure you keep track of information about whether you are seeing success or not. It is not just money but the time you are investing. Therefore, it is essential to measure how one post compares to another, and figure out whether there is any point in continuing with it.

On the whole, Instagram is the perfect place to advertise your brand simply due to the sheer number of active users it has. However, if you are just starting out, or would like to get even more exposure, hiring influencers should be the option.

They have already established themselves and will help you reach a bigger audience. And what business wouldn’t like that?
