Instagram reel ideas without your face great for a product business

One of the best ways to boost engagement and reach on Instagram is to create more video content.

But if you’re like me and a lot of people in my community, you don’t necessarily always have the time or the want to be on camera.

If you’re looking to create more video content, but without having to be on camera, I’ve got a list of different video ideas for you that you can create without having to be on camera.

You can skip the read and watch the video here:

Reel Idea #1 Voiceover

The first way that you can start showing up on Instagram reels and benefiting from the Instagram reel algorithm, but without being on camera, is by doing screen recorded videos with voiceover.

This could be doing a tutorial on your phone or recording something on your screen and then narrating what’s happening on the screen with your voice.

You can do this right inside of the Instagram app. However, it’s not always the easiest to work with.

What I like to use is an app or a tool called You Cut. A lot of content creators use something called In Shot. They’re basically the same app but I use You Cut.

What you do is you can screen record on your phone, and you can either talk and do the tutorial while you are on your phone and doing the screen recording, or you can upload the video into the app You Cut and then record your voice on the app afterwards.

This makes it easy for you to film some form of tutorial or something on your phone and then use your voice as the audio for this, and then you don’t even have to be on camera.

Reel Idea #2 Stock Photos & Videos

If you don’t have something to give a tutorial for you can use stock photos, still photos or videos and do a voiceover that way instead.

In order to use stock photos as videos or still photos as videos, you will have to upload those photos into either You Cut or into something like Canva and turn it into a video.

Once you’ve downloaded the video, you can then add your voice over the top of it. This can work if you’re sharing tips or tricks.

Maybe you’re describing a process or telling a story. It really doesn’t matter what the content is. You can still do a voiceover, whether it’s a still video or a still photo.

Reel Idea #3 Timelapse

One of the other types of Instagram reels you can do without having to be on camera is a time lapse.

I’ve seen this with people cleaning up their office, cleaning up their workspace. It’s basically a before and after type of video where you show the time lapse of when it started to when it ended.

This is a great type of content you can create to show the process of making something, the process of cleaning something up, or the process of something going on.

Maybe you were creating something at your desk or making a product for your business, you can create a time lapse video and add music in reels to create an Instagram reel without having to be on camera.

Reel Idea #4 Packing

Speaking of product-based businesses, if you happen to create products and pack that product, or maybe you send out emails for that product and your digital product is included, you can actually film the packaging of that product and not be on camera.

It would just be filming your hands or filming the screen as you type out the email. This would be a video to show you packaging the product and sending it out to customers.

Reel Idea #5 Desk example

For a lot of us business owners, we’re also content creators. And so our offices and our workspaces can include a lot of really interesting things that our audience might really love to see.

They really love these kinds of behind the scenes videos, because let’s face it, all of us are somewhat nosy and we love to see that kind of stuff.

Any kind of behind the scenes video of your desk, your office or a walkthrough of your space is going to be interesting for your audience. They’re going to love to see that behind the scenes. You don’t have to be on camera for that, which is also a perk.

Reel Idea #6 Canva video

One of the types of reels that you can create without having to be on camera is by creating a Canva video. This is a video that you create from beginning to end in Canva. I’ve created a tutorial for this type of reel.

You download it as a video and then upload it straight into Instagram reels. You can teach things, tell stories, show off your product, show pictures, create something animated. You can do all of that inside of Canva and it’s also free to do.

It’s definitely an option for you if you don’t want to show up on camera and you still want to create Instagram reels. Definitely check out Canva for animated videos!

Reel Idea #7 Commentary

The next type of reel you can create without needing to be on camera is commentary. You could take a screenshot of some news that came out on your industry or in your industry.

You can do voiceover commentary on that news article or on that industry related announcement. Maybe it’s an announcement of your own and you’ve created some graphic or blog post and you screenshot that and do a voiceover doing commentary on this news or industry related item.

Reel Idea #8 Stop Motion

Another really fun video you can create for Instagram reels is something kind of like stop motion.

This is where you take short video clips of some object whether that’s something on your desk or maybe it’s a product that you make or something that you’re creating on the screen. It’s a stop motion of that product or that thing being created or moving.

This is one way where you can film something using your camera or taking pictures and uploading those as small, short clips so that it looks like stop motion animation.

This is very interesting on reels and put to music can be very entertaining for your audience.

Reel Idea #9 Before and After

Another type of Instagram reel you can create without having to be on camera is before and after.

This would be a before and after of your clients or a before and after of you creating a product or a before and after of something that you created for a client.

This can be utilizing photos for the before and after designs, whatever it is that you do. It would be a photo of that before and a photo of that after.

Reel Idea #10 Unboxing

One really great type of content you can create that might only utilize your hands is the unboxing of something.

Maybe you bought yourself a new computer or maybe you’ve started ordering new office supplies and you’re unboxing those things.

Think of things that you regularly come in contact with that you’re ordering that your audience might be interested seeing unboxed and might resonate with them.

If that happens to be something that fits your niche or your audience, you can create simple unboxing videos using Instagram reels, and your audience might just love it.
