How to create an Instagram aesthetic

Have you seen a really gorgeous Instagram feed lately?

Maybe it looks something like this.

There are different types of Instagram layouts and Instagram aesthetics that you might want to try.

I’m going to show you how you can easily create a great Instagram aesthetic without a lot of hassle or work. I’m going to show you the different types of aesthetics you can go for and how to do it.

Monochromatic Aesthetic

The first Instagram aesthetic you may have come across is considered a monochromatic Instagram aesthetic.

This is where all the photos or graphics feel like they are the same color or the same feeling.

This is one account that I follow that I absolutely love because I love interior design and these images are edited in a very similar fashion so that they all feel very much the same. This would be considered a monochromatic Instagram aesthetic.

How you achieve this Instagram aesthetic is up to you whether you are going to take photos or create graphics. The idea here is that you use the same photo editing or graphic editing across all of your images.

If you’re not a photo editor or you’re not a professional photographer, this might be a little harder for you to achieve.

Checker Aesthetic

If monochromatic is a little too similar and a little boring then you might have seen this next Instagram aesthetic which is the checker pattern.

The checker pattern is the basic idea that you alternate between colors every post. You can see this example account that I follow follows a pattern or a checkered effect.

You can easily do this by alternating your images, graphics or colors on your feed.

Random Aesthetic

The next type of Instagram aesthetic is going to be something a little more random. This might seem a little bit like a checker pattern but it’s a lot less sequential and a lot more random.

I’m actually giving you my own Instagram account as an example because I used to do a checkered pattern, but more and more lately I found that it actually doesn’t improve or change the impact of my content and how many followers I get because it’s really in the value of the content.

A random aesthetic on Instagram can perform just as well as a more thought-out Instagram.

Rows Aesthetic

Last but not least in terms of an Instagram aesthetic you could go through and create a pattern that’s not a checkered pattern but instead more like rows.

Every three posts you create, you repeat the pattern. This example shows a black post on the far right and then two white posts after that and so it creates a pattern or an effect on the Instagram grid.

It just means that once you break your pattern, things are going to look right which is another reason why I really love just posting a random post without worrying about the aesthetics because if I use my brand colors, brand fonts and provide value, it really doesn’t matter that much.

Canva Templates

You can even do that by clicking on your brand fonts as well. If you need to change all the fonts in one click you just click on your brand fonts apply it to all the pages and it will apply the brand fonts to all the pages.

Then you’ve quickly customized the Canva templates to your colors and your fonts ready to post on your Instagram feed. The only thing you have to do is go through and change stock photos or personal photos and relate the text back to things that you need to talk about in your business and on your Instagram.

If you don’t like one of the templates, you can just click on your brand colors and shuffle through different options. It makes it really easy to customize all of the templates within your color palette.
