Things I Do and Don't Do With Content (That Might Surprise You)

For a long time, I thought successful business owners were doing things differently than I was.

I assumed they were posting every day, chasing every trend, constantly coming up with new ideas, and somehow managing to stay active on every platform at once.

The longer I’ve been in business, the more I’ve realized that many of the people who are showing up consistently aren’t doing more.

They’re doing less.

Just more intentionally.

The Shift That Changed Everything

One of the biggest shifts I made was realizing that content doesn’t need to be harder than it already is.

I don’t post every day.

I don’t jump on every trend.

I don’t start from scratch every time I need a post.

I don’t completely change my content plan every few months.

I don’t wait until I feel inspired.

And I definitely don’t assume that every piece of content needs to be brand new.

Instead, I reuse ideas.

I repeat important messages.

I stick to a handful of topics.

I create from a plan.

And I look for ways to make content easier to maintain.

Most Content Problems Are Actually Decision Problems

Because the truth is that consistency becomes much easier when content requires less decision making.

The easier it is to sit down and create something, the more likely you are to keep showing up.

The easier it is to reuse an idea, the less pressure you feel to constantly invent new ones.

The easier it is to know what you’re talking about, the less likely you are to waste time second guessing yourself.

Most content problems are actually decision problems.

What should I post?

Should I try this trend?

Do I need a new idea?

Am I talking about the right thing?

At some point, making a few decisions and sticking with them creates more progress than endlessly revisiting them.

The Goal Isn’t More Content

That’s why I’ve become so focused on content systems, repeatable workflows, and creating content that can be reused.

Not because they’re exciting.

Because they make it easier to stay visible.

The goal isn’t to create more content.

The goal is to make content easier to create.

Easier to reuse.

And easier to maintain.

Because when content becomes easier to maintain, you’re far more likely to keep showing up.

Want Help Making Content Easier?

The easier content is to maintain, the easier it is to stay visible.

That’s exactly why I created the Content Planner & Brand Playbook.

Inside, you’ll find simple planning tools to help you organize your ideas, create a repeatable workflow, and spend less time wondering what to post.

Final Thoughts

In my experience, the businesses that grow aren’t usually the ones doing everything.

They’re the ones that found a way to keep showing up long enough to be remembered.

And most of the time, that starts with deciding what you’re no longer going to make harder than it needs to be.
