My business lives off of search engine optimization. I’m not glued to Instagram. I’m not constantly on Facebook Groups and on Facebook. I may have been in the early stages of my business, but I focused on search engine optimization in the early days of my business and that is how my business now grows and continues to get leads without me having to be glued to Instagram.

I wanted to share my story and how our business survives off of search engine optimization and how you can utilize it in your business as well.

When I started my business, I started at absolute zero. I didn’t even have a product. I didn’t have anything to sell. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, where I was going, what my niche was, nothing. I started from scratch.

The beginning

The story of my business started at the end of 2015 when I wanted to start a blog and wanted to have a creative outlet.

I started with a blog and looking around in various different Facebook Groups, looking at Pinterest pins, and looking for and reading different blogs about starting an online business.

Where I started with the growth of my business is very different from where it is today. But search engine optimization has really played a huge role in the growth of my business.

When I started, I did start at zero, but today we’re making well over 30,000 a month and multiple six figures every year.

We’re doing a lot of that through organic traffic from Google, YouTube, and Pinterest.

When I started my business, I didn’t know that I wanted to get into stock photography or start a membership around social templates. It was really through self discovery and realizing that I had the skill set for photography and graphics that could be helpful for online entrepreneurs.

Creating an offer

Once I connected the dots between my skillset and what other people needed, I was able to create an offer that made sense for me and for my audience, but it didn’t just blossom overnight and I didn’t just make six figures overnight.

It started with a blog and a Facebook page, and through those two platforms, organic traffic through a blog and a social media platform like Facebook and Facebook Groups, I was able to grow a community and really start to grow my audience.

In the beginning, leads came to my business through my blog and through Facebook and Facebook Groups. I was able to grow my email list through people that I knew on various different Facebook Groups and by sharing a blog post every week and pinning it to Pinterest every week.

This was very slow growth but it really did get the ball rolling. In the beginning it really took maybe six months for some of my content on my blog and on Pinterest to start to gain more traction and get more traffic to it.

 

It did take some time, but after a few years, we went from zero email list subscribers to now upwards of 4,000 email subscribers every single month. We get those email subscribers and those leads in our business through organic content.

The power of organic content

When someone’s Googling Instagram content or Googling stock photos for female entrepreneurs or Googling Instagram Canva templates, they’re going to discover our blog and our website. Whether you’re on Pinterest, Google, YouTube, wherever it is, you’re going to find some content related to my business and that’s by no mistake.

Did it happen overnight? No, it didn’t happen overnight, but it does allow for me to not have to worry about where leads are going to come from.

Although I talk a lot about Instagram and I coach clients through the process of creating content for Instagram and attracting ideal clients through Instagram, I also coach clients and teach our students within the membership how to create an organic content plan that isn’t reliant on Instagram.

Because just like me and my business and how it started, everyone starts at zero and it takes real relationships with real people and real conversations on platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, or Facebook to really start the conversation about something.

You could skip Instagram and Facebook, and just focus on a blog and Pinterest, and you might be able to grow an email list and gain some interest, but it would be a very slow growth. It would take you a lot longer.

Growing an audience

That’s why I teach inside of my Level Up launch Accelerator and my program, how to grow an audience and sell out your signature offer on platforms like Instagram and Facebook. I also teach how to transfer all of what you just learned in launching your signature offer into a content plan and an organic content strategy on Pinterest and on your blog or YouTube, so that you can then start bringing in more leads organically.

But you don’t do that overnight. You have to launch a signature offer that sells out, that is validated, and that you know will work and resonate with your audience first.

Because once you are able to do that, then you can start to build leads in your business organically without having to rely on an algorithm or a social media platform or be constantly in your DMs getting clients through direct messages.

Bringing in leads on autopilot

Even though in the beginning that might be how you do things, where you end up is, if you’re doing it properly and if you’re working with me inside of one of my programs, you’re going to take all that you’ve learned and create an organic content strategy that brings leads in on autopilot.

By doing this in my own business, I’m able to gain 4,000 leads every single month in our email list. We’re able to add multiple new members inside of our membership or inside of our coaching program every month without me having to constantly be in direct messages and cold calling people or pitching people my offer.

I can actually allow leads to discover my content organically, come into my funnel organically, and be offered one of our programs through our funnels organically. It makes the process of selling and creating leads in my business a lot easier.

It is a little bit of a long game and in the beginning you might be hustling a little more, but if you’re doing it right, and especially if you’re working with me inside of one of my programs, you’re going to get to the place where you’ve got organic content that brings leads into your funnels and converts them into real clients organically through evergreen content.

Evergreen content

One of the common questions I get is what is evergreen content?

What an evergreen content plan is, is it’s the creation of content that’s relevant at all times. I can create a YouTube video today that’s evergreen that could bring leads into my business many years to come. That happens right now in my business.

I have videos on YouTube that have over 200,000 views that continue to bring leads into my business every single day, even though the video is two or three years old. It’s because the content is still relevant, it’s still helpful and it’s searchable on Google or on YouTube.
