8 steps to make irresistible and profitable content

There’s a common struggle that many of us face creating content to help our digital product businesses: blaming social media platforms for our lack of progress!
Admit it, we’ve all been there. The algorithm seems to be against us, our engagement is plummeting, and we’re posting amazing content but not seeing any results. It’s easy to fall into the trap of blaming the platform and thinking, “Instagram is not like it used to be.”
But I’m here to tell you something important: You’re focusing on things you CAN’T control
You can’t control an algorithm.
Instagram isn’t to blame for low sales or low engagement
Let’s face it and be real honest for a moment. Algorithms are completely out of our control, and yet, despite this fact, we see some people finding incredible success on these platforms. So, what’s the secret?
Well, it’s not about blaming Instagram for our shortcomings. It’s about taking ownership and digging deeper to uncover the true issues at play.
I’ve learned that the problem lies in one of two things and even built a content membership with pre-made content plans specifically tailored to solving these issues for digital product businesses.
The only true issue is one of two things.
- Either you’re attracting the wrong people, or
- Your content and message are off (or a combination of both).
If you try to blame results on Instagram or any platform, you’re missing the point. Focus on what you CAN control.
Focus on what you can control
Your content and your message
It can be frustrating to put in so much effort and see no results.
But instead of obsessing over an algorithm, let’s take a step back and assess your content strategy and these two things we can actually control:
- Your content
- Your message
Think about it – you have the ability to attract the right followers and leads with the right content and message. You have the creative freedom to shape your message and present it in a way that persuades and converts your audience into sales.
By focusing on your content and message, you’re taking ownership of your Instagram presence and setting yourself up for success instead of blaming something you can’t control anyways.
Remember, algorithms may change, but great content will always win.
So, let’s dive into how to create content that truly resonates with your audience and converts them.
By the way: Whenever you’re ready, I can help you create purposeful and impactful content that drives traffic, leads, and profits to your business within the profitable content membership. No more feeling stuck or unsure about what to post. With the membership, you’ll gain access to simple pre-made content plans, captions, and templates specifically tailored for digital product businesses, online courses, coaches, and service providers to create content that truly resonates with your audience and converts them into sales.
Action 1: Analyze Your Content and Message
Take time to analyze your content and message and see if these things are truly aligned with your target audience’s needs and desires.
Start with a content audit:
Take a close look at all of the existing content you’ve created. What’s working well? What’s not hitting the mark? Identify high-performing content and note common themes or patterns. This will give you insights into what resonates with your audience and may be heading in the right direction.
Review/Create your message & transformation statement
When analyzing your message, it’s crucial to go beyond the surface level and really get to the core of how you help your audience transform from wishing for a goal and achieving a goal.
For instance, let’s say you’re an online course creator passionate about helping aspiring photographers. You created an incredible course that covers all the essential photography techniques, but now it’s time to craft a powerful message that truly resonates with your audience.
To come up with your message and transformation statement, ask:
- What are the unique benefits of my product?
- What are the key features of my product?
- How do these two things come together to make one inspiring message and transformation statement
Here’s an example of what this would look like using the photography course:
- Unique Benefits: Learn to Capture Your Creativity and Master the Art of Photography. My online course is not just about technicalities of photography—it’s a journey of self-expression.
- Key Features: Lessons on the technical aspects of photography while diving into the development of an artistic eye, understanding composition, and mastering post-processing techniques, and inspiration and motivation to go beyond the technicalities and tap into their creativity.
- inspiring message and transformation statement: Gain the tools, guidance, and support to level up your skills, make your photography dreams a reality, and capture stunning photos that leave people breathless.”
Remember, your message should communicate the unique benefits and impact of your course in a way that resonates with your ideal customers goals.
Can you see how this exercise aligns your message with your product? This can now be the foundation for your content because to sell products and grow leads, you need to communicate the value your product delivers beyond jus the facts and features.
Action 2: Make irresistible and profitable content.
How can you make irresistible content?
I’ve broken it down to 4 key categories for profitable irresistible content with examples so you see what I mean. But read to the end of this post to truly understand why they work.
Providing actionable tips and insights
For our photography course creator example, these content ideas help your audience improve their photography skills and overcome common obstacles. These kinds of posts demonstrate your expertise and position you as a valuable resource for aspiring photographers.
Sharing relatable stories
If you were a photographer with a course, you would share stories in your own photography journey and the obstacles you have overcome. This helps your audience to connect with you on a personal level and see you as someone who understands their struggles and aspirations.
Sharing past moments of triumph and even challenges
These could be your wins or challenges or the ones faced by past students. This instills a sense of authenticity and relatability, reassuring your audience that success is attainable with dedication and the right resources.
Motivating and inspiring
Create content to motivate and inspire them to explore their own potential through your examples. Like simply sharing behind the scenes of your projects and the outcome. Imagine how inspiring or motivating this can be perceived by someone who wants to do what you’re doing.
Action 3: Proudly promote your product more often
Okay, now, let’s talk about the most important part of your content and message.
Promoting your products. And guess what? Promoting doesn’t have to feel icky.
It’s not about tricking or manipulating your audience , it’s about helping them to recognize your product’s value so they can make choices that are genuinely in their best interest.
Imagine this: you’ve poured your heart and soul into creating a product or service that has the potential to make a positive impact in people’s lives.
Now, if you treat promotions as unvaluable or as some kind of necessary evil, you unintentionally devalue the very things you’ve worked so hard to create.
But hey, let’s turn the tables and take a different approach!
When you approach promotions with respect and pride, knowing that your products have immense value, you can better serve your audience and unleash the true potential of your gifts.
You have the power to make a difference, so don’t hold back, my friend! As you share the benefits of your products or services, you empower your audience to make informed decisions that align with their needs and desires. It’s not about pushing a sale, but rather creating a meaningful connection and fostering trust.
Remember, intent matters. Your genuine desire to help, uplift, and make a positive impact is what distinguishes you from those who resort to manipulation tactics.
By staying true to your values and understanding the true value your products provide, you can guide your audience to recognize the worth of your product and act in their own best interest.
In that respect, most of your content on Instagram should serve as an actionable solution with a call to action for the next step you want them to take.
Action 4: Put it all together with a solution and a call to action
In your content, you want to provide your audience with clear and tangible actions they can take to see some immediate results that help with their goal, whatever that may be . Then, easily transitioning your actionable solution into a call to action. Whatever action you want them to take. In most cases it will be related to your lead generation method and selling your product.
When you put all of the above steps together, your results turn into something like this below that includes:
- Your key message
- Irresistible style of content
- Actionable solution
- Call to action
Here’s an example of exactly how it’s all put together into one caption. :
“The one question I get asked all the time is ”How on earth do you find time to grow your photography business while juggling 3 kiddos as a stay-at-home mom?”
It’s not easy, but let me share two game-changing techniques with you that I learned a long time ago:
batching my photo edits with presets and time blocking. Have you heard of these?
Photoshop and lightroom have batching features that allow you to streamline your process and cut editing time to a fraction of what it was. I use this all the time!
Time blocking is a pretty awesome way to take control of your schedule too! You simply block out dedicated work hours each week. It’s all about carving out undisturbed, focused time. And trust me, as you make progress and check those boxes, you’ll start seeing some crazy progress! To do this, I set up an agreed time with my partner so we both know this is my dedicated block of time to work.
But I get it, diving into all this on your own can feel a little overwhelming. I know! and I’ve got your back! I’ve created a super useful course for new photographers packed with actionable strategies and the tool tutorials with guidance and support to level up your skills and make your photography business dreams a reality.

Can you spot each of the elements? Take note of the key message, the Irresistible style of content (in this case it was actionable tips and insights), the Actionable solution and a Call to action all in that caption making the perfect irresistible and profitable content.
Action 5: Focus on quality over quantity
It’s not about how often you post, it’s about the quality of your content. No one is meticulously counting how many times you hit that publish button this week—except maybe you! 😉
What you truly want is to make a real impact, right? So, let’s refocus our energy on what truly matters: the quality of your content and the quality of your followers.
Instead of obsessing over the number of likes, let’s create valuable, meaningful content that has a purpose for your business. Let’s build a community of engaged and loyal supporters who genuinely connect with your brand, rather than chasing after fleeting moments of fame.
You want your content to be a magnet for your audience, drawing them in and making them eager to subscribe, make a purchase, or hire you.
Action 6: Strike a Balance with Fun & Trendy Content
We all know it’s still fun sometimes to share entertaining content without worrying about promoting anything. Like relatable memes, trendy reels, and shareable aesthetic quotes every now and then.
These can be a great way to add some fun and personality to your brand, right? So, by all means, go for it! Share those entertaining posts if it genuinely brings you joy. They can definitely attract engagement and even earn you a few followers here and there.
But, remember to balance the fun with the business and not lose sight of the goal. The single biggest problem with those kinds of posts usually arises when it’s time to convert the followers you gained from them into actual customers or clients.
You see, as delightful as those entertaining posts are, they may not always hit the mark when it comes to driving tangible results for your business.
That’s why it’s important to strike a balance. Yes, have fun and engage your audience with entertaining content—share those relatable memes, hop on the latest trends, and sprinkle in some aesthetically pleasing quotes. But (and this is a big BUT!), don’t ever forget the underlying goal of your content strategy.
Not all of our templates in the membership are “business”.
Here are some fun examples of templates I provide members in our content membership so they can express their personality and balance fun content with their other content too.
Action 7: Create an engaging environment for your audience
Here’s the deal, creating an engaging environment is all about building connections and making sure your community knows you value their support. Being engaged with your community is what sets you apart.
You can build a community by engaging with your audience through comments, direct messages, or lives. You can get conversations started by replying to comments, asking questions, and getting to know your followers.
First things first, make it a point to reply to comments. When someone takes the time to leave a comment on your social media post or blog, don’t let it go unnoticed! Whether it’s a simple “thank you,” a thoughtful response, or a question to further the conversation, be present, and engage with your audience. Show them that you care about their thoughts and opinions, and that you’re there to support them. Let’s build that connection, one comment at a time!
Don’t just stop at replies—go the extra mile.
Ask your audience questions. Encourage them to share their experiences, challenges, or successes in the comments. This not only sparks meaningful conversations but also shows that you genuinely value their input and want to create a space where everyone feels heard and supported.
One way I made creating engaging questions easier was by creating over 40 templates and 500 question prompts for our members inside the profitable content membership. Members are using these for all kinds of engaging polls and questions to ask their audience and get them engaging in their stories!
Direct messages are another powerful tool. Use them to have more personal and private conversations with your followers. Reach out to individuals who have shown interest in your product or have asked questions, and provide them with the information and support they need. Building authentic one-on-one connections goes a long way in nurturing loyal followers who will stick with you on your digital product journey.
Remember, engagement is all about cultivating a following that are genuinely a good fit for your products. So, keep the conversation going, be present, and show your audience that you’re there for them. Your authenticity and genuine care will create a community that supports you and celebrates your growth.
Takeaways:
Remember, it’s not about blaming social media algorithms for a lack of engagement and sales, but taking control of your content and message.
You have the power to create content that attracts and converts the right people, and that’s what truly matters.
By focusing on your content and message, you can create a community of loyal customers who love your products or services.
Focus on what you can control. Content and Message.
