10 ways to figure out your next best product

There was a long stretch of time in my business where I could come up with new ideas very quickly, but almost none of them felt like something I could imagine finishing without overthinking or second guessing myself. I would get excited about an idea, start planning it in detail, then suddenly feel unsure once the excitement faded and real life and real energy kicked back in. At the time I thought I just needed to be more confident or more motivated. Later I learned that I was choosing ideas based on how interesting they looked in my mind and not based on how well they fit the way I liked to work, communicate, or support people.

Success with a digital product is not only about how good the idea sounds or how creative it appears. It also depends on how well it supports your strengths, your lifestyle, your energy routines, and the kind of support you want to offer. When I started choosing ideas through questions instead of impulse, I felt calmer, more focused, and more capable of finishing what I started. I also stopped judging myself for changing my mind because now I could see the real reason behind it.

If you want help turning your best idea into income..

Here are ten gentle ways to explore which idea might be the best fit for you right now. None of them require you to have it all figured out. They are simply meant to help you pay attention to what already works instead of assuming the answer is hidden somewhere far away.

1. Ask your audience what they are working on or struggling with

Sometimes your best idea is already sitting in a real conversation that is happening in your DMs, comments, stories, or email replies. People are usually honest when you ask simple questions in a casual way. Use polls, question boxes, or quick conversations. The strongest ideas often come from shared needs instead of private brainstorming.

2. Look at your top performing content and study the patterns

Your audience has already shown you what they value the most by saving, sharing, clicking, or replying. You can scroll through your own content and very quickly notice a theme. Do not ignore something just because it feels familiar or easy. Familiar often means trusted.

3. Turn a personal win into a shortcut for someone else

Think about something you figured out through experience. It does not have to be life changing or dramatic. If you solved a problem faster than most people know how to, that alone can become a helpful product. People often pay for clarity and relief, not information overload.

4. Upgrade something you already created

You do not always need a brand new idea. Many strong products begin from something small that already exists. A starter checklist can become a workbook. A short tutorial can become a mini course. A simple freebie can become a full set of templates. If the base is already there, expansion feels easier and less stressful.

If you want to experiment with ideas before building a full product, you can try some of our PLR content. You can use it as a starter draft, research tool, or an easy way to test what your audience responds to.

5. Notice what people ask you to explain

Questions are useful signals. If people repeatedly want to know how you do something or how you think about something, that may be a sign that there is interest and trust in that topic. Write these down somewhere and review them when you feel unsure.

6. Solve a small piece of a problem instead of a big one

You do not have to fix everything. Small and specific products sometimes perform better because they are easier to finish and easier to understand. Quick wins help build trust and confidence for both you and your customer.

7. Choose the idea that feels gentle on your energy

Pay attention to how your body reacts when you picture yourself working on an idea for several months. If it feels heavy, confusing, or draining, it may not be a supportive choice right now. Pick the idea you feel curious about even on tired days.

8. Choose a format that feels natural for you

Ease matters. If it feels most natural to write, start with a written format like a PDF or workbook. If you enjoy visuals, create templates. If you prefer talking, record short audio or video pieces. The format does not make you legitimate. Your clarity and followthrough do.

9. Test a small version of your idea first

Before you create the full product, try sharing a sample or preview. You can post a tip, share a small resource, or offer a small free file and then ask if people want more. Real interest is easier to measure when you release something simple.

10. Choose the idea that helps someone see progress sooner rather than later

People appreciate results that they can feel or notice. Your strongest idea might be the one that helps someone experience a clear improvement quickly. Progress builds trust and creates loyal customers who return for further support.

Final reflection

You are not struggling because you are confused or scattered. You are simply becoming intentional with how you spend your time and what you choose to build. You are learning to look at ideas with honesty and care instead of pressure or perfection. There is no rush. You are allowed to move at a pace that protects your energy and your creativity.
